ExpatRide launches White Paper 2.0

[16.12.2024]. ExpatRide, the global provider of car services for expats worldwide, is proud to announce the release of its new white paper, ExpatRide White Paper 2.0: Global HR’s Green Opportunity: Using Global Mobility to Drive Environmental Change. This forward-thinking publication offers key insights into how relocation can serve as a catalyst for more sustainable behaviors, ultimately transforming the Global Mobility Industry into a driver of sustainability.

This white paper expands on the first white paper, ExpatRide White Paper 1.0: Driving Sustainability: The Case for Eco-Conscious Assignments in Global Mobility, which offered a holistic view on global mobility from the sustainability perspective, questioning how relocation can boost sustainable decisions and emphasized the importance of why the Global Mobility Industry needs to take urgent action.

This latest edition, White Paper 2.0, explores how the relocation can inspire eco-conscious behaviors across the whole mobility industry. It does so, by drawing on insights from Professor of Psychology, Bas Verplanken, who argues that the relocation is a unique opportunity to adopt more sustainable behaviors. According to Verplanken, this period of transition – when routines are disrupted – creates the ideal opportunity for cultivating long-term behavioral change. For it to culminate in new long-term sustainable behaviors, it is necessary for the support systems to be in place. Global HR plays a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable mobility, as they have the ability to influence relocation policies, and create the necessary support systems for employees to embrace sustainable behaviors. Meanwhile, the RMCs bring the expertise and support network to help accelerate these changes, ensuring that sustainability becomes an integral part of the relocation experience.

“Our new paper aims to outline the conditions under which relocation could mean a positive change for the environment and help you to navigate towards a more proactive approach to contribute to this positive change,” said Pavla Skorpilova, Sustainability Manager at ExpatRide.

Relocation is more than just moving employees from one place to another – it’s a powerful driver creating more sustainable behaviors, but to utilize this opportunity, it is necessary to adopt a more holistic approach. This approach goes beyond the logistics of moving, and consider the broader factors throughout the whole assignment: From transportation and housing choices to everyday behaviors, every aspect of an employee’s relocation journey contributes to the overall environmental footprint.

The time to act is now – each relocation presents a special opportunity to align business goals with sustainable practices. To achieve this requires three key strategies: 1) integrating sustainability into company policies, 2) empowering employees with sustainability training, and 3) utilizing RMCs to drive meaningful change. We are at a turning point, and with the right approach, relocation can steer us towards a more sustainable future.

The white paper is designed for Global Mobility leaders, HR executives, mobility managers, and sustainability professionals seeking to ensure an eco-conscious approach to global mobility.
