Frequently Asked Car Leasing Questions

  • Why is it difficult for an expat to lease a car?

Leasing a car is a daunting task for expats since they are not familiar with the car leasing process in their new country. In addition, it can be very difficult to get approved for a lease without local credit history. ExpatRide overcomes these hurdles by working around the local credit system and providing support by a Personal Car Shopper.

  • What are the benefits of using ExpatRide?

Our program was created with the expat’s needs in mind; it is designed to save you time, hassle and money. The assistance from a Personal Car Shopper gives you the benefit of a skilled and knowledgeable contact person who understand the auto market in your new country.

Many customers find it difficult to navigate the foreign car market. Your Personal Car Specialist will work with you to find the best fit for your situation. The goal is to match your needs, wants and budget.

  • What is Personal Car Shopper Service?

We search for your vehicle according to your wishes, needs and budget. Your Personal Car Shopper will locate and negotiate pricing on your behalf with a dealer close to your location. In most cases, your Personal Car Shopper can get bet¬ter pricing because of arrangements made with vehicle manufacture, dealerships, and financing companies.

  • What is the difference between leasing new and buying used?

Leasing makes more sense economically when it comes to deciding between purchasing a pre-owned car and leasing a new one. The monthly payments of financing a used car are often higher and, in addition, the maintenance costs for a pre-owned vehicle are also more expensive.

  • Do I need to perform maintenance on a leased vehicle?

Yes. As part of your lease agreement, you are responsible for servicing your vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer’s minimum recommendations and as requested by the manufacturer in connection with any recall campaign.

  • Is maintenance included with the lease?

Maintenance contracts can be offered and included in a lease. In some countries, we offer a complimentary plan, while others must be paid for out of pocket. Please check your country’s page to find out if maintenance is included in your lease payment.

  • Can I break the lease earlier than my contract agreement?

In general, when terminating a lease early, there are no penalties, only the payments of the remaining months. In some countries, we offer flexible lease agreements which can be ended at any time (or after 12 months) at no cost.

  • Is insurance included with the lease?

In some countries, insurance is included in the lease and in other countries insurance is a separate charge. If insurance is not included, we have insurance partners with whom we can connect you.

  • Can I lease more than one car?

Yes, many customers lease more than one car.

  • How long does the lease process take?

The timeframe for car delivery will depend on the country. However, you can control the following factors:

    • How fast we receive your information and the required documents
    • How flexible you are with make/model
